As of Friday, a new sign stands across the street from Toledo’s city hall, celebrating the city’s role in the 1971 film adaptation of Ken Kesey’s “Sometimes A Great Notion.”
It’s the 21st sign on the Oregon Film Trail – a partnership between the Oregon Film Office and the Oregon Made Creative Foundation, with regular collaboration with other agencies like Travel Oregon.
Organizers say the film trail celebrates Oregon’s contribution to film making since 1904.
"There aren’t many films that showcase and speak to the Oregon Spirit as ‘Sometimes a Great Notion,’ Tim Williams, executive director of Oregon Film, said in a statement. “Being able to honor and celebrate that project’s direct connection to a quintessential Oregon town like Toledo gives us all great pride.”
Last month, two signs were added in Ashland to the Oregon Film Trail for the movies “Wild” and “Coraline”.
The film trail includes markers for other movies, including “The Goonies” and “Kindergarten Cop,” throughout the state.
