It seems the rest of the country is catching on to something we’ve know for awhile: Portland’s Jimmie Herrod has a voice that stops you in your tracks. He stunned the judges on “America’s Got Talent” Tuesday night, performing “Tomorrow,” from the musical “Annie.”

Herrod, who grew up in Tacoma, Washington, so wowed judge Sofia Vergara that she bestowed upon him the “Golden Buzzer,” which gives Herrod a free pass to the show’s live-show rounds later in the summer.

Meanwhile, another Portland singer, Storm Large, made waves on the show last week when she advanced after singing “I’ve Got You Under My Skin.”
