Newberg City Manager Jacque Betz announced her willingness to resign Monday, conditioned upon the City Council's approval of the separation agreement.

During a meeting, the council approved the agreement that will be finalized in the next few days.

In July, Betz placed Newberg Police Chief Brian Casey on leave — but didn’t explain her actions to the City Council.

The council then removed Betz from her post and sought a criminal investigation, but no charges were brought against her.

In a press release, the city of Newberg said it will announce the effective date of Betz's resignation and other details no later than mid-week.
