An independent regional team in Southwest Washington has finished its investigation into the October fatal shooting of Kfin Karuo by Clark County sheriff’s deputies and sent the case to the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for review.
Clark County voters rejected a proposal on the ballot Tuesday that would have potentially allocated funds for police body cameras. Meanwhile, early Vancouver election results show voters giving strong support to two incumbents on the City Council.
Court documents show Vancouver police started the investigation into Karuo after he allegedly pointed a handgun at a man in a parking lot on Sept. 29. Vancouver police had also placed a GPS tracker on Karuo’s white 2003 Ford Expedition, which was in place the night he died.
Protesters returned to the grounds of Skyview High School in Vancouver on Friday, fueled both by recent anti-mask protests and a judge’s attempts to quash them. One appeared to display a white power hand symbol.
