Goat Girl - “Badibaba”

THANKS TO OUR SPONSOR:

The UK group Goat Girl is dropping their sophomore album this Friday. “On All Fours” features this mind-bending joy ride. “‘Badibaba’ is a song about environmental catastrophe and the pessimism and self-destruction that this causes to the human spirit,” guitarist/vocalist L.E.D. said in a statement. The track is a psychedelic circus of sounds that grabs your ear while lead vocalist Lottie Cream whispers into it, providing a haunting calm that guides you through it all.

CHAI - “Action”

Experimental pop band CHAI are taking their sound to new levels with their latest album “WINK”. The album comes out in May via Sub Pop, but you don’t have to wait that long to hear what this quartet has been creating. They’ve released a slew of tracks over the past few months including the album’s lead single, “ACTION”, which was recorded as a response to watching the American summer of turmoil from their home in Japan. “Seeing how the world came together during the protests really moved me,” said bassist Yuuki. “I wanted to dedicate that song to the year of action.” CHAI’s musical approach to musical activism here is refreshingly playful and full of mellow house grooves accompanied by innocent, almost childlike vocals.

Gustaf - “Mine”

Gustaf is a Brooklyn-based punk rock band that has built a following organically within the club scene of New York, gaining the attention of influential fans like Beck along the way (he asked them to open for him at a recent show). Fans of the classic unpolished punk sound will be drawn to their new single “Mine”. Produced by Chris Coady (Beach House, Future Islands, TV On The Radio), the track is propelling the band from the confines of their home base and on the way to international recognition. Notably, NPR Music has included Gustaf in their 2021 Slingshot list of up-and-coming musicians.
