Canadian singer/songwriter Andy Shauf dropped his seventh album titled “Wilds” in September. The record kicks off with the track “Judy (Wilds),” which first made an appearance (with a completely different arrangement) as part of a collection of b-sides from his previous album “Neon Skyline.” Sonically, it’s a perfect blend of simplicity and joy with harmonious vocals that follow the mundane task of buying lottery tickets on a Wednesday afternoon.

Loyal Lobos — “Amor Como Puñal”

Colombia-born and Los Angeles-based songwriter Andrea Silva, who performs under the name Loyal Lobos, recently released this hard-hitting love song. “It’s a song about experiencing love with a deadly passion,” said Silva of “Amor Como Puñal” before adding that “it explores the burning intensity of being under the spell of love.” It’s a total triumph, as Silva continually adds unexpected layers that build on the haunting effectiveness of her vocal delivery.

Marissa Nadler — “Couldn’t Have Done the Killing”

Marissa Nadler released a new album called “Path Of The Clouds” in late October. The record’s third single, “Couldn’t Have Done The Killing,” is soaked in dark imagery and catapulted forward by soaring instrumentals and ominously whispered vocals.
