As educators struggle to maintain safe learning environments, many of the emotional effects of the pandemic are still ongoing. For some, the stress of uncertainty is compounded by the return to in-person learning and the weight of academic expectations. Add in the larger concerns about climate change and the politically divisive atmosphere, and you get what could be called an anxious generation.

THANKS TO OUR SPONSOR:

We hear from Oregon youth about what’s making them feel anxious, how they deal with it, and how the individuals and institutions in their lives can support their resilience. We also hear from adults who work with youth.

Our guests are: Alyssia Menezes, a junior at Portland’s Lincoln High School; Jospin Mugisha, a sophomore at Portland State University; Craigan Usher, Professor of Psychiatry at Oregon Health and Science University, special emphasis on children and adolescents; Katherine Iliyn, one of two high school counselors at Cascade High School in Turner, Oregon; Shalene Joseph, Youth support circle facilitator for the Native Wellness Institute; and Andy Miller, a freshman at Adrian Nelson High School in Happy Valley and participant in the circle.

This program is a special live Zoom event, with opportunities for audience participation. Register here to be part of “Call to Mind Live: How Youth Are Coping with Anxiety & Stress.”
