Port of Morrow fined $1.3 million for harmful nitrate levels in drinking water

Many residents in the counties surrounding the Port of Morrow in Boardman get their drinking water from groundwater. The port has a wastewater permit for the industrial park it operates but Oregon’s Department of Environmental Quality found it violated the permit, contaminating groundwater.
